Where to Stay in Lincoln City, Oregon
VRBO
Our family‘s favorite way to visit Lincoln city Oregon is by staying in a VRBO (vacation rental by owner). Hands-down, this gives you the best access to great places to stay with the most amount of privacy. Whether you’re looking for a cute bungalow right on the beach or a secluded mountain retreat like our recent stay, VRBO is the way to go.
This year we found a quaint mountain retreat tucked up in the Cascade Head Ranch of Otis, Oregon. Located a 10 minute drive from the heart of Lincoln City, this mid-century modern gem was the perfect getaway at Thanksgiving. There were nearly 3000 newly-remodeled square feet of paradise for our huge family to gather.
Located halfway up the hiking trail to Cascade Head (an easy hike with a stellar view!), we were visited by a large herd of elk every day. Deer and their fawns ate the grass 15 feet from our dining room window every morning. And off in the distance, we could hear the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean along the private and secluded beach located at the mouth of the Salmon River.
Our view of elk – every day!
Just feet from the patio
The drive up to our house alone was magical. It looked like a scene from the Shire in the Hobbit ~ bendy, moss-covered trees hung over the windy paved road; rolling tall grass-covered hills. The sun shone through the mountain elk trails and the ocean peekaboo was exciting.
We filled our time by snuggling up on the amazing couch and watching holiday movies, doing puzzles, riding our bikes on the paved driveway, and playing one of the many games in the house.
Our host, Raymond, pulled out all the stops to make this a family friendly getaway. We kept a toasty fire burning in the fireplace and fell in love with the outdoor hot tub. The beds were cozy, the laughs were endless – and that VIEW! In fact, we love the place so much that we’re already dreaming of our next trip to Cascade Head Ranch. I highly recommend this mountain-ocean hideaway for any family!

You can’t beat that view of the Pacific Ocean and Oregon’s idealic coast. It’s easy to hear the crashing waves from the quiet, secluded patio.
This isn’t the first time we’ve stayed at a rental in Lincoln City, Oregon. On a previous enjoyable visit, we stayed at an ocean-front condo located right on the beach. We literally left our front door and walked right onto the beach. So if a huge house isn’t exactly what you’re looking for, you’ll find the perfect property at VRBO, just like we always do.
Although rates are slightly higher in the summer during the peak tourist season, we love to visit Lincoln city in the fall, winter, and spring as well. The rainier weather and cooler temperatures make for great cuddle sessions and opportunities for rest and relaxation.
