What I Need From a Lipstick
Who has time to reapply lipstick over and over again? Certainly not me. As an educator (who talks a lot!), a mom and wife (lots of kissing going on around here) and a foodie, I had to quit the lipstick game. It’s been lip balm ever since.
The trouble is…there are some adorable colors out there! And I’d really wanted to try lipstick again, especially all the matte looks out there. So I started hunting. And buying. And regretting 🙁
Trial and lots of Error
I hope I can save you from spending tons of money (and time!) testing liquid matte lipsticks. I order mine online and have to wait…and wait…for each type. So when I finally discovered THE ONE, you can bet I did a happy dance.
I have tried a dozen different brands from beauty stores, grocery stores and online. Please look no further!
Top 5 reasons this is MY only lipstick, and I use it daily:
- It isn’t sticky. It goes on very smoothly, doesn’t run easily, dries quickly, and is a cinch to perfectly apply. There’s nothing worse than a sticky, irritating liquid lipstick. Bleck.
- It lasts ALL…DAY…LONG. On occasion I’ll eat a little more than usual or say yes to that extra cup of coffee (or two!). But 9 out of 10 days, I apply at 6AM and forget it. On my way home at 4PM, I notice that it’s maybe time to reapply (but I’m headed home.) As a super busy professional and mom, that’s MY kind of lipstick.
- The price is right. Yep, you heard me! For what I get (a classy matte that lasts all day), I feel like this is an awesome price.
- You can try them on at home in the private! I order from Amazon and thanks to their generous return policy, if I don’t like it, they take it back – no questions asked.
- I get compliments like crazy!!! Now, this isn’t the number one reason I love it. But it feels great to get compliments from people much more stylish than me saying, “I love your lipstick. What is it?!?”
The color selection is also very broad. It seems to me like they’ve figured out a fabulous high-pigmentation formula and are just multiplying them!
I currently own: Lovesick, Double Dare, Ophelia, and Berlin. My olive skin tends to bring out the pinks in lipsticks so these colors are perfect for me. I have different colors for different activities. Berlin is definitely an “out on the town” shade with it’s red POP. Lovesick is my daily “go to” because I wear a lot of black, and it adds some freshness to my look.
